The questions we get most often, from planners and from freelancers.
For planners
Why do I see no names before someone says yes?
Because a name without availability gets you nothing. You see a profile once the freelancer can do it. That keeps the freelancer's privacy intact and saves you the phone calls.
How long does a search take?
That depends on how fast someone says yes. The first wave goes out right away, every next wave 30 minutes later. A last-minute job often has a proposal within the hour; a rare role can take longer.
Can I pick a freelancer myself?
Not from the search: we ask based on the match, not by name. If you want your regulars first, put them in your own pool. They get priority and you get 1 credit per day back.
Can I withdraw a request?
Yes, as long as nothing is booked yet. Everyone we already asked hears that it is off.
What does it cost when nobody says yes?
Nothing. On 'Nobody found' you get your credits back.
Why do you ask only 2 freelancers at a time?
Because the first yes is the proposal. Ask ten at once and nine say yes for nothing. Small waves keep requests worth something to freelancers and give the best candidate the first chance.
For freelancers
How often do I get a request?
Only when a job really fits you and you are free on those days. No request does not mean we forgot you.
What happens when I tap 'Not available'?
We mark those days busy in your calendar and send you no more requests for that period. The company only sees that you could not, never why.
What if I don't want this job but want to stay available that day?
Tap 'No, I pass'. You only decline this job, your calendar stays open and other requests for that day still come in. Use 'Not available' only when you really cannot do those days.
Does the company see my address or phone number?
No. Your address always stays with us. We share your phone number and e-mail address only after the booking, so the two of you can arrange the job together.
What if I reply too late?
After 24 hours the request expires. If you still say yes and we are still searching, your yes counts. If the job is already filled, you hear that right away.
Do I need to install an app?
No. The request arrives on WhatsApp or Telegram and you reply there. You only log in to update your profile.
Can I ask a question about the job first?
Yes. Ask in the same chat. Our AI answers with the planner's project information.

Who makes Toperators?
Toperators comes from Stream My Event BV, an AV company in the Netherlands that has been planning its own crews for productions small and large for years. We know the phone marathon, the spreadsheets and the last-minute cancellations first-hand. So we built the platform we wanted ourselves. By planners, for planners.
Is MatchEngine really a registered trademark?
No, we just thought it was funny. Feel free to register it; we will find another name.
